Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the work of healthcare providers worldwide and how we manage the health of our citizens and care for our patients. The pace of this change is accelerating. AI offers great opportunities to promote population health and alleviate the increasing pressure on the Dutch healthcare system.

Application of AI for health care is broad. AI models can create a trend shift from a reactive to a proactive healthcare system (prevention). They can lead to faster and better diagnoses and treatments optimized for the individual patient. AI can also provide insights that support better self-management of chronic patients.

Globally, we see significant investment in AI. This is the time to scale up valuable Dutch AI applications together and put the necessary structural data infrastructure and other preconditions (such as finance and knowledge) in place.
